Outstanding grasp of ICD9-CM, inpatient and outpatient coding guidelines.Exposure in HCC coding is an added advantage & keep-up a working knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 coding principles, governmental regulations, protocols and third party requirements regarding billing and billing documentation.Assure that all services documented in the patients chart are coded with appropriate CPT-4 and ICD-9 codes. When services are not documented appropriately, seek to attain proper documentation in a timely manner.Achieve and keep-up a high level of accuracy in professional fee coding while keep-uping a high level of productivity. Conduct a review of patient hospital charts to insure compliance with coding and documentation guidelines and governmental requirements provide written reports to Manager with results of these audits.Ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
A minimum of one year of professional coding experience required; 2-3 years of professional coding experience from the hospital or office settings is highly desired.
Experience in E&M, ED,Inpatient, Outpatient and Speciality Coding is preferred.
All coding candidates must have current coding certifications; must provide proof of certification with valid certification identification number
Must be certified through AAPC or AHIMA.
Certifications accepted include CPC, CCS, RHIA, and RHIT.
Excellent organization and problem-solving skills required.
Strong oral and written communication skills required.
Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart confidential information.
Advanced knowledge of medical coding and billing systems and regulatory requirements.
Advanced knowledge of auditing concepts and principles.
