The Dialysis Technician is responsible for operating and using the dialysis machine in order to make the treatment of renal problems more efficient. Most of time, a person with this job is also referred to as a renal dialysis technician, nephrology technician, or hemodialysis technician
Since operating a dialysis machine is one of the most efficient means of providing quality healthcare to kidney patients, a dialysis technician has very little room for error. Of course, there are other procedures that are used to tend to this specific type of disease, but the use of a dialysis machine is, by far, the most reliable and, often, essential to the patient’s survival. For this reason,
a dialysis technician should see to it that he operates the machine with the utmost concern in order to give patients the best possible care. In addition to this, he must also be knowledgeable of the various techniques of maintaining the machine to ensure that it always is in tiptop operation and ready for the next patient.
A dialysis technician should also be prepared to deal with handling blood samples on a regular basis, for it is the agent that is primarily used to ensure the effectiveness of the treatment. This means that one needs to ensure that he has the appropriate dialysis technician training and certification necessary for this technique before applying for the job. Of course, one can always learn the ropes of the trade on the job itself, but acquiring the necessary training beforehand will not only give one a competitive edge but it will also prepare him for the requirements of the job.
Diploma in Dialysis Technology / B.Sc Nursing with relevant experience / GNM with relevant experience.
Relevant experience of 1 - 2 years (Hospital)
